Colour

Light Sand

Natural blond colour

Carbonated Amber

Achieved by a carbonation process. This means that the colour is impregnated into the bamboo, so if the floor is refinished, it retains its original colour.

Construction
  • Tongued and Grooved and End Matched
  • Square Edges to Unfinished boards - ready for sanding and coating on site
  • Micro bevelled arris (0.4mm) to top edges of pre-finished boards
  • The 3-layered, staggered design of the horizontal floorboards or the vertical floorboards provide support to prevent delamination. By providing a product that is finished on all sides cupping is less likely to occur. BT Bamboo is guaranteed for 10 years against delamination.

Finish
  • Satin or gloss aluminum oxide finish
  • Also available unfinished for on site coating
  • Super tough commercial coating now available for very high traffic areas

The BT Bamboo Aluminium Oxide finish has 7 layers of coating.
There is also a Super Tough Commercial coating that has a textured top coat.

Layer Construction
1. Hydro UV Barrier Coat
2. UV Duro Sealer
3. UV Duro Sealer
4. UV Sealer (standard)
5. UV Sealer (standard)
6. HPC Anti Scratch Top Coat
7. HPC Anti Scratch Top Coat

High Performance Coatings (HPC) are applied as multilayer systems by roller coating technology and cured by ultra violet (UV) energy. The coatings yield extreme hardness resulting in high mechanical resistance to scratch, impact and abrasion.

The coatings are water based and are free of halogenated hydrocarbons, heavy metals, herbicides, insecticides, pesticides, formaldehyde and any harmful emission complying with international standards.

The BT Bamboo coatings used fulfil the following characteristics:

  • Comply with the EN71 Quality Standard
  • There is no migration of hazardous elements
  • There is no harm from direct skin or oral contact with coated surfaces
  • The coatings are based on waterborne polyurethane dispersions or acrylated polymers
  • The coatings are vinyl-free
  • The coatings do not produce obnoxious gases when burned or decomposed

INSTALLATION...

BT Bamboo suits installation on:-

  • existing timber floors
  • concrete floors
  • plywood
  • particle board
  • floor joists and battens

The precision manufacturing of BT Bamboo ensures that it is easy to install by either using the direct stick to existing subfloors or secret nailing to bearers and joists.

BT Bamboo standard boards (900mm x 90mm x 15mm) are not designed to be installed as a floating floor. The wide boards (1830mm x 152mm x 15mm) may be floated on a foam underlay.

BT Bamboo is designed for internal use only and should be installed in accordance with the installation instructions and maintained in accordance with the cleaning and maintenance instructions.

SUPPLY AND PRODUCTION...

Bamboo Supply

BT Bamboo is made from only fully matured Chinese Mao Bamboo. Carefully selected, bamboo poles are harvested from the bamboo seas in the provinces of Hunan, Jiangxia and Fujian from forests under control of the Chinese Department of Forestry.

Bamboo Production

Click here for our Production Slideshow. BT Bamboo is a floorboard manufactured from mature stems of plantation grown bamboo, approximately 3-4 years old. The bamboo logs are cut to length and then strips of approx. 30mm are cut from the edge of the log. The strips are machined to a flat piece, treated against fungal attack and insect infestation and then kiln dried. The dry strips are now about 23-24mm wide x 6mm thick. These are either glued side by side or laminated into 3 layers to produce horizontal style or glued face to face, or on edge, to produce vertical style. BT Bamboo is manufactured to ISO 9002 specification.

The laminated blanks are machined by high speed precision moulders to a floorboard pattern of tongue and groove and then end matched to 90mm or 152mm wide x 15mm thick x 900mm or 1830mm long, with a machining tolerance of + or - .5mm. Each piece is inspected for colour, tone and fitting of the tongue and groove and general quality. Only the boards that measure up to select grade standards are allowed for export. BT Bamboo is then passed through the coating line where it is sanded, primer sealed on all edges and then sanded lightly again before the final two coats of aluminium oxide ceramic are applied. BT Bamboo can be supplied with primer sealer only for site sanding and coating in any desired timber finish.
